DDoS with LOIC

By far my favorite security program is LOIC, mainly just for it's hilarious Hollywood hacker like GUI.

Keeping secret from the NSA

If you aren't an American Citizen or just a very paranoid one you may want to protect your data from the prying eyes of others, including governments, corporations and advertising agencies.
The NSA collects data on everyone but American citizens, legally they can't spy on their own citizens, however some believe they do anyway.

To protect yourself and avoid your information being used against you in any way I suggest to employ the following techniques;

  • Use a secure browser that doesn't spy on you.
You have 2 options Chromium or Firefox, Firefox is the better choice as extensions often are better supported also Firefox nightly and aurora are available. *note Chromium isn't Chrome, it's very important you use Chromium rather than Chrome, Chrome spies on you and sends data to Google.
  • Configure you browser and install addons for safety and privacy.
If you chose Firefox this guide will help you install useful addons, http://www.logicalincrements.com/firefox/index.html you should certainly install ad-block, HTTPS everywhere and Disconnect or Do not track me.
You should change your default search engine to either startpage or duckduckgo.
And finally go to the browser setting and click on the privacy tab and select 'tell sites I do not want to be tracked'.
  • Use a virus/malware protection.
Rule #1 DO NOT PAY FOR ANTI-VIRUS
Malwarebytes free is the simplest answer here.. it is powerful and can remove more viruses than most paid protection software, Malwarebytes anti-root kit is another free service that can remove the most nasty malware.
  • Use TOR for your secret browsing.
TOR, The Onion Router, is an anonymity tool that also gives you access to .onion sites (part of the deepweb).
    Learn about TOR.
  • Don't use Proprietary software.
    Install Gentoo
Learn the wonderful world of Linux and Open source.
Once you have installed a Linux distro you won't have to worry about viruses and many other issues Windows would have landed you in.
